Dear Reader,
My name is Tanai M. Coleman and I live in New York. I am
passionate about helping anyone who is willing to listen and respond to
the valuable information, experience and Godly wisdom I have to share.
However I must admit my favorite people to help are Black Christian
Women. That's because I am one. I know the struggles and the triumphs
that come with being a Believer in Christ, a person of color and a
woman. That being said, whomever is willing to listen, learn and
change; that is the person I want to teach.
Just so you know a little about me personally, I
didn't always have the answers. I was a person who used to buy her
wants and beg her needs. That means as a young woman I would buy those
sneakers or heels I couldn't afford and borrow money for gas. That
statement actually just made me nauseous. I used to walk around with
knots in my stomach worrying how I was going to pay this bill or that
bill, never realizing that the money God was sending me was going right
out the window. After many years and tears God showed me through His
word that how I spent my money was directly related to how I felt
about myself. He begun to share with me why I did the things I did and
how to begin to change for the better.
As I learned these lessons I also began a new career
in banking. I was hired as a Personal Banker for Bank of America and
later as a Licensed Personal Banker for JP Morgan Chase. While learning
all I could about banking, how money and investments work and what
consumers need from their banks, I realized something. I was not the
only one abusing money. Most of my customers rich and poor were writing
checks with no money in their account, paying overdraft fees monthly
and not saving enough. I found out that most of my customers didn't
know how to manage their money properly. As I explained to my clients
how their accounts worked , I found that I more than liked it. I loved
it. I loved the feeling people got from talking to me about their
money. They felt safer because they understood what they were buying. I
had finally found my niche. I finally belonged somewhere. I belonged in
an arena where I could teach people about their money.
I became an entrepreneur not only because it was my
destiny but also because what I wanted to do didn't exist. Where can
you go to get unbiased wisdom about money? A Personal Banker? A
Financial Advisor? An Accountant? A Tax Preparer? They may be great at
what they do but they are not unbiased. They may have a tremendous
amount of integrity but they can still only sell you what their company
offers which may not be the best product on the market. I on the other
hand work for my client. Since no one was looking out for the consumer,
I decided to do it. It is my pleasure to serve you.
Sincerely,
Tanai M. Coleman
